Bolaji Agbede has been named the acting group chief executive officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, the holding company announced on Monday.

The late group chief executive officer, Herbert Wigwe, passed away on Friday in an American helicopter crash. The appointment came after his death. Along with his spouse, son, and former Nigeria Exchange Group chairman Abimboloa Ogunbanjo, Mr. Wigwe passed away.”

In response to the sad loss of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024, the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc (‘the Company’) has today announced the appointment of Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company,” the company said in a statement on Monday.With nearly thirty years of experience in banking and business consulting, Ms.

Agbede joined Access Bank in 2003 as an Assistant General.Before taking on her current position as Executive Director of Business Support in 2022, she worked for the bank in a variety of capacities, including Head of Group Human Resources from 2010 to 2022.

According to the statement, Bolaji Agbede graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in business administration from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom in 2002.

She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management in the United Kingdom and the CMA of Nigeria.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s approval is required for the appointment.”Ms. Bolaji Agbede’s appointment is consistent with our comprehensive succession planning procedures,” stated the company’s chairman, Abubakar Jimoh.”Ms. Agbede, as the organization’s most senior executive, has an exceptionally rich professional background, a strong grasp of the Access culture, and the ability to lead.
