Eight alleged armed robbers on the Lagos State Police Command’s wanted list have been taken into custody by operations.
This was revealed in a statement released on Saturday by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson.
The suspects, who were members of two syndicates, were taken into custody following weeks of covert and thorough investigation, according to Hundeyin.
According to a police spokesman, the suspects specialize in carjacking cars and robbing Lagos residents.While detectives pursued other suspects to Iwo in Osun State and Ibadan in Oyo State, according to Hundeyin, some of the suspects were apprehended within the state.
The suspects’ ages ranged from 22 to 32, he continued.He also revealed that the suspects were allegedly in charge of the Dec. 9, 2023, murder and theft of a police officer’s rifle in the state’s Iju Ishaga area.He claimed that following the initial round of arrests, the rifle was found.
He said that among the other things taken from the suspects were charms, five handguns made in the area, thirty live cartridges, and a pump-action rifle.
Armed robberies have occurred on multiple occasions throughout the state.
