One person has reportedly been killed when gunmen broke into the hotel of Ikechukwu Odono, the chairman of the Ohaukwu Local Government Area in Ebonyi State.
According to information obtained by our correspondent, the thugs also set fire to seven different cars that were parked on the hotel’s property. The Ezzangbo hotel is situated in the council area.
According to information obtained, the attackers broke into the hotel on Sunday night around 11 p.m., attacked and killed one of its occupants, and then fired intermittently for six hours, until 5 a.m. on Monday.Photos taken at the scene that our correspondent saw online showed a bloody mess on the hotel stairwell.
“My brother, remember that this area (Ezzangbo) has been under attack by gunmen; but the incident last night was the mother of all the attacks,” a community source said, pleading to remain anonymous.
This time, the thugs immediately proceeded to the Ohaukwu Local Government Area hotel and started causing havoc. While many claimed three people were killed, some only told me one. That was terrible, then.
“Nobody is aware of the situation. Approximately five police officers were slain just last week. What is happening in Ebonyi North Zone is a question that many have. The level of insecurity in this place is concerning.The incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m., according to a local Vigilante operative who also did not want his name to be published.
He continued, “That night, the hotel and the residence of the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, Hon. Prince Ikechukwu Odono, were attacked by unidentified gunmen.”
“Onwe Chukwuka, also known as Mature, was shot and killed; Mr. Odono Peter Cross was also shot and suffered a critical bullet wound. There were nine burning cars.
DSP Joshua Ukandu, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that one person was killed when the gunmen attacked the hotel on Sunday night.”The gunmen set several vehicles ablaze in the hotel during the attack,” he continued.
