The weather forecast for Monday through Wednesday by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency is sunny and thunderstorm-filled.
With the possibility of thunderstorms over a portion of Kebbi, Monday’s weather forecast from NiMet, which was released on Sunday in Abuja, called for sunny and hazy conditions over parts of Yobe and Borno states.The rest of the North should see sunshine with cloud cover in the mornings, according to NiMet.
The states of Bauchi, Taraba, and Kaduna are expected to see sporadic thunderstorms later in the day.With the possibility of sporadic thunderstorms over portions of Niger, Kwara, and Benue in the early morning, the North Central region should see mostly sunny skies with limited cloud cover.It stated, “Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated later in the day over parts of Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi.
“Cloudy with sunny spells, NiMet predicted that the South would experience isolated thunderstorms in the morning over portions of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.It foresaw sporadic thunderstorms over areas of the states of Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Ogun, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers.
On Tuesday, the North is predicted to see sunny skies with a few cloud patches, with the possibility of morning thunderstorms over portions of the states of Taraba and Adamawa.
Parts of the states of Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Bauchi are expected to see isolated thunderstorms later in the day. In the morning, there should be patches of cloud and sunshine in the North Central region.”Isolate thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, and Benue states as the day progresses,” the statement stated.
The agency predicted cloudy conditions with intermittent sunny spells over the South, with increased cloud cover over the coastal region in the morning.Parts of Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers Bayelsa states are predicted to experience isolated thunderstorms.
The agency predicted a sunny sky over the North on Wednesday, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms later in the day over portions of the states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Taraba.”Over the North Central region, sunny skies with cloudy patches are predicted. Later in the day, there may be isolated thunderstorms over portions of Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue states.
“In the afternoon or evening, there is a chance of thunderstorms over areas of Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos. The southern region is expected to be cloudy with sunny spells.”The public should take appropriate precautions as strong winds may occur prior to rain in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur.
