Ibrahim Isiaka has been taken into custody by the Nasarawa State Police Command on charges of slitting the throat of a commercial motorcyclist and stealing his motorcycle in the state’s Karu Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, and made available in Lafia on Friday, it was stated that the suspect was apprehended after diligent work by local police officers assigned to the Masaka division.
According to Nansel, the suspect got on a commercial motorcycle and rode it to Bigmali on Masaka’s Jankanwa Road. However, the rider was unaware that the suspect had plotted with a companion to take away his motorcycle.
“The suspect, aided by the other suspect who is still at large, used a knife to slit the motorcyclist’s throat while the motorcycle was in transit,” the statement read.According to the police spokesperson, as soon as the command was informed of the heinous deed, its officers sprang into action and hurried the victim to the hospital in an attempt to save his life.
“The victim is receiving treatment and is still in an undisclosed medical facility. The suspect was apprehended after a protracted manhunt, and the stolen motorcycle was found.
The suspect is assisting us with the investigation at the moment, and we are working to apprehend the other suspect who is still at large. After the investigation is finished, the suspect will face charges in court, the PPRO continued.
