Following a protracted battle with kidney disease, the actor known for his comedic roles on screen passed away, and fans took to social media on Sunday to express their sorrow.
Emeka Rollas, the chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, did not immediately respond to calls or texts left on his voicemail on Sunday night, making it impossible to get a comment on the actor’s passing.
While expressing his condolences for the actor, social commentator Morris Monye used his X handle, @Morris_Monye, to share that donations had been made to support the actor during his struggle with illness.Muonagor was reportedly receiving dialysis due to kidney failure.
A few days after the actor went viral with a video in which he raised money for a kidney transplant, word leaked out about his passing.”Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing,” Monye wrote. He was a gifted Nollywood actor who had an absolutely magnificent presence on our screens.
“We were worried about him as he struggled with health problems and did everything we could to support him in getting treatment in India. This terrible loss serves as a reminder that our nation needs improved healthcare.
